Ever since the swell, there’s just not enough water. No good fishing in the mud. Can’t get past the foam out front or at the wall. Arrggh! Been going the last few days to no avail. Cloudy and feels like rain. We’ll see what tomorrow looks like.
Ok, Back by Popular Request
January 28, 2010Ok, so yes I have fished since 07. Haven’t caught that much…last year was pretty mediocre. This year’s been tough so far. Caught one big guy at the wall a few weeks ago…. pretty much that’s it. Sierra are running large but no real boils to report. Big swells for the last couple of weeks have really re-organized the beach….new ball game….tides are low in the mornings and waves still too big. Let’s hope it settles down for a few days before the next swell gets here.
Good Day Yesterday, today sucked
November 27, 2007
Good bite yesterday but decidedly softer. Back at the wall, of course. Got 3 on the 3oz kastmaster, then bit off, so decided to try out my new lite rig…20lb braid 8′ Ugly Stick w. my new little reel and 1oz kastmaster. Got bit off immediately. Tried again and threw one off. By then it was done.
Today looked like it was gonna be good, but not much going on. Waves bigger but in nice rolling sets. Zippo for me…not even a grab. Go figure.
Yow!
November 25, 2007Back at the wall early. Moon still up, very bright, nice and calm. Started casting a bit early and it paid off. Sierra all over the place for about 45 minutes. Getting hit every cast…even twice or three times on a single cast. Best day since I don’t remember when. Final count: 10, all medium sized on yesterday’s earner, the 3oz kastmaster with the black leader.
Back in the Money
November 25, 2007Not the best November on record…until today. Fishing conditions haven’t been that bad, but there’s been mighty slim pickin’s for yours truly for the last couple of weeks, but then today changed all that.
Went down to the wall, first light. Rained last night, how about that! Dark and drizzly this morning, waves medium, but sierra all over. Got’em both inside and out. George did well also. Went to back to my old standby 30z kastmaster, this one with black leader. Worked…final score: Six in the sand.
Low Tide Blues
November 2, 2007Tides very low the last few mornings, waves breaking way out. Lots of whitewater to fish over. Bite was late yesterday, after the sun was up. Got one rooster, lost another on a #5 crock.
Goodbye, Mr. Stubby
October 29, 2007Tide lower, water very warm. Bait way inside, not much bothering it. Walked all the way down to Mike B.’s, got one grab, next cast, Mr. Stubby goes bye bye. Switched to a silver #5 Krok but no takers. A local Senior got two smallish sierra off Rambo’s , another one rooster. Pretty day, very slow. More turtles escaping, also spotted a fresh nest. Still no confirmed whale sitings. We’ll see what magic tomorrow brings.
Who Peed in the Pool?
October 29, 2007Saturday morning looked like it was going to be another really good fishing day, and started off right…got two roosters right away and a couple more hookups, all on trusty Mr. Stubby, then bink! Dead Sea. Like somebody flipped a switch. The lake up at Pedrito broke thru sometime during the night and there was a bunch of driftwood on the beach….maybe had something to do with it.
Didn’t go out Sunday morning, but Jim said not one bite….hummm. We’ll see what we get this morning….
Full Moon Rooster Party
October 27, 2007Yesterday morning was just about perfect. Water’s calm and very warm. Bait balls right on shore and Roosters all over. Fewer Sierra, but they were there too. Mr. Stubby does the job…2 sierra and a rooster for me.
Bite’s On!
October 25, 2007Great fishing day. Sierra, Roosters, and Toro thick. Went back to Mr. Stubby, Greg’s short modified kastmaster. Numerous grabs and hookups. Final score, 3 sierra and 2 roosters.
